Andre Rosiade Visits Orphanage for Abandoned Babies in Padang, Makes Azizah a Permanent Donor
A poignant atmosphere enveloped Andre’s visit as he listened directly to the orphanage staff’s stories about the struggles of caring for babies abandoned by their parents. He even held a three-week-old baby found at the orphanage’s gate.
“Ya Allah. The struggle in West Sumatra is heavy; many babies are discarded outside,” he stated in a written release on Monday (11/5/2026).
Andre then provided cash assistance of Rp25 million and 10 food packages worth Rp5 million to help meet the orphanage’s needs.
“Like this, Auntie Dewi, I can’t stay long. I’ll give Auntie Dewi and the orphanage Rp25 million first to help. There will also be 10 food packages later. If there’s any problem, immediately inform Ibu Ida or our team in Padang,” he explained.
Not only that, Andre also promised to return with his wife in early June while making his family permanent donors to the orphanage.
“Insha Allah, on 5 June, I’ll bring my wife here. I’ll have my wife and child, Azizah, become permanent donors here. So that Azizah can post about it too, encouraging many people to donate to Panti Dewi,” he added.
In response, one of the orphanage staff, Dewi Melinda, revealed that in 2023, the number of abandoned babies entering the orphanage increased. In fact, there were once three babies abandoned at the same time in one month.
“2023 was the most, Sir. In November alone, there were three babies left and fled,” Dewi disclosed.
Even, according to Dewi, some babies were deliberately left secretly in front of the orphanage gate at night.
“Some climb the fence, some sneak through bags,” she continued.
Currently, the orphanage is assisted by four nurses and six caregivers. Dewi stated that the orphanage’s operational needs reach around Rp100 million per month for nurse costs, milk, diapers, and the children’s daily needs.
“If the female nurses are Rp200 thousand per day, the male ones Rp300 thousand per day. That’s just for nurses and caregivers,” said Dewi.
The orphanage side also expressed thanks for the assistance given by Andre to the abandoned children they care for.
“We express our utmost gratitude to Mr Andre Rosiade for coming to this orphanage and providing assistance. May he always be healthy, have increasing sustenance, and continue to be useful to many people,” said the orphanage staff.
