The Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the Gerindra Party, Andre Rosiade, stated that President Prabowo Subianto has issued a Presidential Instruction (Inpres) regarding the continued construction of the North Solok City Ring Road. Andre noted that the President has allocated funds amounting to Rp 49 billion for the road construction.

This confirmation was shared by Andre during an inspection of the North Ring Road section in front of the KAN Laing Office, Solok City, on Friday (18/09/2026). The inspection was also attended by the Mayor of Solok, Ramadhani Kirana Putra; the Deputy Mayor of Solok, Suryadi Nurdal; the Regent of Solok, Jon Firman Pandu; and the Head of the West Sumatra National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN) from the Ministry of Public Works, Elsa Putra Friandi.

Andre stated that the construction will initially begin with a single lane covering approximately 2.5 kilometres. According to information from BPJN West Sumatra, the tender process is targeted for October 2026, with works expected to commence by November 2026 at the latest.

“Alhamdulillah, today together with the Mayor of Solok, the Deputy Mayor, the Regent, and the Head of the Agency, I wish to share good news for the residents of Solok City. The efforts of the Solok City Government have succeeded; the Central Government, through the Regional Road Inpres, is injecting an allocation of Rp 49 billion to begin the first phase of the North Solok City Ring Road construction,” Andre said in a statement received on Friday.

According to Andre, the construction of the North Ring Road is a form of the central government’s commitment under President Prabowo’s leadership to drive regional economic growth. He described the development as a long-awaited gift for the people of Solok City.

“This is a commitment from President Prabowo’s government to deliver the development long-dreamed of by the people of Solok City and the local government. President Prabowo is providing the best gift through the Regional Road Inpres for the people of Solok,” Andre added.

Andre explained that this year’s construction is merely the initial phase. Other sections will be prioritised for completion through the Regional Road Inpres in 2027.

“Thus, the construction will be carried out in stages until the North Ring Road connectivity can function optimally. God willing, the adjacent section will be completed through the Regional Road Inpres in 2027,” he said.

The Mayor of Solok, Ramadhani Kirana Putra, expressed his appreciation to Andre Rosiade regarding the construction plan. He noted that the total length of the North Ring Road is approximately 8.4 kilometres, while the current phase covers about 2.5 kilometres, with total required funding estimated at around Rp 83 billion.

“This year, the Ministry of Public Works, through the Presidential Instruction for Regional Roads, has allocated Rp 49.9 billion. Hopefully, the technical implementation, with the tender planned for October 2026, will proceed smoothly,” said Ramadhani.

Ramadhani mentioned that this section has long been a concern for the community as construction had been halted since 2012. Therefore, the central government’s budgetary support is seen as a vital momentum to continue development, which is expected to open new economic growth zones.

Meanwhile, the Head of BPJN West Sumatra, Elsa Putra Friandi, explained that the work will undergo a provider selection process and is planned to use a multi-year scheme. The project is targeted to start by November 2026 at the latest and conclude around June 2027.

Elsa noted that the ultimate requirement for the North Ring Road is actually four lanes. However, due to the budget limitations of the Regional Road Inpres, the current construction will focus on two lanes (one single carriageway) first.

Andre emphasised that the construction should not only be viewed through its physical structure but also through the benefits that will arise once the access is connected. The Gerindra politician noted that the most important aspect is that connectivity is established so that community activities and the economy can move.

“The important thing is that it connects. The economy runs. The economy moves. Thank you, Mr. President,” Andre concluded.
