Andre Rosiade Sends Aid to Flood Victims in Pasaman and Agam
Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Gerindra Faction, Andre Rosiade, has sent 1,000 food aid packages worth a total of Rp500 million to help flood victims in West Sumatra (Sumbar) in Pasaman and Agam Regencies. The aid consists of 500 packages each for Pasaman and 500 for Agam, with each package valued at Rp500,000. The aid was released directly from the courtyard of the Gerindra Party’s West Sumatra Regional Leadership Council Office on Jalan Samudra in Padang City, Sumbar. Distribution is focused on several severely affected points, such as the Simpang Alahan Mati and Lubuk Sikaping areas in Pasaman, as well as Nagari Bayua, Duo Koto, and Sungai Batang in the Maninjau Lake ring area in Agam Regency. “A total of Rp500 million in aid is being sent to two disaster points in the Sumbar II electoral district. This is proof of the Gerindra Party’s commitment to always being present for the people, not just during elections, but when the people face difficulties,” Andre emphasised in a written statement on Monday (20/4/2026). Andre affirmed that the Gerindra Party’s presence amid the community is part of its moral and political responsibility to ensure that disaster-affected residents receive prompt and tangible attention. According to Andre, the aid also serves as a form of solidarity and encouragement for the community to remain resilient in facing the difficult post-disaster period. Andre also highlighted the importance of accelerating infrastructure development and strengthening the regional economy. Andre assessed that West Sumatra’s economic growth, which is still around 3%, needs to be driven more aggressively to compete with other provinces on the island of Sumatra. “We want West Sumatra to rise and move faster,” Andre stated. Meanwhile, Member of the West Sumatra DPRD for the Pasaman-Pasaman Barat Electoral District, Sirajuddin Simandjuntak, expressed appreciation for the aid. Sirajuddin assured that the aid would be received promptly and distributed directly to the affected community together with Pasaman Regent Welly Suhery. “Thank you to Mr Andre Rosiade for his concern. We will receive this aid in Pasaman and distribute it directly with the local government to ensure it reaches the right targets,” Sirajuddin said. The aid targets several flood-affected nagari in Pasaman, such as Alahan Mati, Alahan Mati Ilia, Lansek Kodok Barat, Koto Kaciak Barat, Sundata Selatan, to areas around SMAN 2 Lubuk Sikaping and Nagari Simpang. Meanwhile, in Agam Regency, distribution is focused on areas around Lake Maninjau, which have experienced quite serious impacts due to flooding in the past few days.
