Andre Rosiade Provides Rp60 Million Aid for Students Admitted to Al Azhar University in Egypt
The concern of Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Gerindra Party faction, Andre Rosiade, has once again paved the way for high-achieving children from underprivileged families. During a visit to SMAN 14 Padang in Lubuk Kilangan District, Andre immediately disbursed Rp60 million in aid for three alumni of MAS Perguruan Islam Ar Risalah who were successfully accepted at Al Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt.
The three students are Zahra Azzakiah, Hanifah Djoelvinanda, and Hauraaul Himmaty Ulya. They secured places at one of the world’s most prestigious Islamic universities.
However, their dreams were nearly postponed due to limited funds for travel to Egypt. One of them is even an orphan.
“This assistance is for travel costs, visa processing, and initial needs heading to Egypt. God willing, once accepted at Al Azhar University, there will usually be various scholarships and other aid available,” Andre said in a written statement on Saturday (25/7/2026).
“The important thing is that these students can depart first. Study diligently and return later to build the nation,” he continued.
Andre expressed pride in seeing more young generations from West Sumatra capable of entering world-class universities.
According to Andre, economic limitations should not be a barrier for high-achieving children to reach their dreams.
Previously, Islamic Religious Education teacher at SMAN 14 Padang, Yuneiti, who is also a Government Employee with a Work Agreement, conveyed information regarding the three alumni.
In front of SMAN 14 Padang Head Evidel, the teaching staff, and Andre, Yuneiti recounted that her daughter and two colleagues had been accepted at Al Azhar but were constrained by travel costs, visa processing, and initial departure needs.
“We heard that Mr Andre has helped many people, including in education and scholarships. We hope Mr Andre can help our child and her two friends so they can depart for Egypt. One of them is even an orphan,” said Yuneiti.
Upon hearing the explanation, Andre did not need long to make a decision. In front of the teachers, Andre immediately stated he would provide assistance of Rp20 million to each student, bringing the total aid handed over to Rp60 million.
An emotional atmosphere enveloped the meeting room. Yuneiti could not hold back tears as Andre directly handed over the Rp60 million in cash.
Yuneiti admitted she had been at a loss trying to find funds so the three students could depart for Egypt.
“Alhamdulillah, thank you very much, Mr Andre Rosiade. This is an extraordinary blessing for our children,” she said.
“This assistance gives new hope for them to continue their education at Al Azhar. May Allah repay all your kindness,” she continued.
Head of SMAN 14 Padang Evidel also appreciated Andre’s concern, noting he is always present to help the education sector in West Sumatra.
“Mr Andre not only helped build our school but also pays attention to high-achieving children from other schools who need a helping hand. Such concern is very meaningful for education in West Sumatra,” said Evidel.
“Thank you, Mr Andre Rosiade,” he added.
The aid became a lifeline for the three prospective Al Azhar students who had been haunted by the issue of travel costs.
With this support, they now have greater hope of continuing their education in Cairo and bringing honour to West Sumatra on the international stage.
