Andre Rosiade Prepares 10 Buses for Minang Students Returning Home in 2027
Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Andre Rosiade, is targeting the provision of 10 buses for Minang migrants, particularly students, in the free homecoming programme in 2027. Andre emphasised that he will increase the number of bus fleets provided.
In his speech to Minang students in Yogyakarta, Andre said that if he had facilitated five buses for the previous Eid, then in 2027 the number would be doubled.
“Last year, I prepared five buses for students returning from Jogja. Insyaallah, in 2027, I will prepare 10 buses so that students can return together for the holiday,” said Andre in a written statement on Monday (27/4/2026).
This programme is one form of Andre’s attention to Minang migrants pursuing education outside their home region, especially in Yogyakarta.
Andre realises that transportation costs during the homecoming season often burden students.
Andre emphasised that this step is also part of efforts to strengthen ties between migrants and their homeland in West Sumatra (Sumbar).
According to Andre, the role of Minang migrants is very significant in supporting the regional economy.
Andre stated that every year, Minang migrants contribute up to tens of trillions of rupiah to Sumbar, through house construction, mosques, and other economic activities.
In addition to the free bus programme, Andre also touched on the importance of infrastructure development and economic improvement in Sumbar.
Andre affirmed that he will utilise his position in the DPR RI to help bring more funding from the central government.
“As long as Pak Prabowo is president, I will fully utilise it for the development of West Sumatra,” stressed the Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party Faction in the DPR RI.
The free bus provision programme has received a positive response from Minang students in Yogyakarta.
They consider the assistance very helpful, especially for students with limited funds to return home during Eid.
With the plan to increase the fleet to 10 buses in 2027, Andre hopes that more students will benefit from this programme and maintain their connection with their homeland in Ranah Minang.
