Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Andre Rosiade, has appreciated the performance of President Prabowo Subianto and his cabinet in maintaining the stability of staple commodity prices, especially during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr period. He assessed that food prices this year are relatively controlled compared to the previous year.

“We need to appreciate the performance of President Prabowo and his cabinet. While other countries face pressures, Indonesia is among those able to maintain stability, both in fuel and food,” said Andre during the Commission VI House of Representatives’ hearing with PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia (IDFood) on Monday (30/3/2026).

This Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party Faction in the House of Representatives acknowledged that there were fluctuations in prices of some commodities such as eggs and chillies. However, he stated that overall, the prices of staple goods remained stable, both during Eid and post-Eid.

Andre also highlighted his experience as a member of Commission VI of the House of Representatives since 2019. According to him, it was only during Eid 2026 that he did not hear widespread public complaints regarding surges in staple commodity prices.

“This is the first time since I have been in Commission VI that there has been no uproar on social media about high food prices,” he said.

Furthermore, Andre assessed that this success is inseparable from the government’s commitment to strengthening national food resilience since President Prabowo was inaugurated in 2024. He viewed the government as focused on promoting food self-sufficiency and maintaining domestic supply stability.

In that hearing, Commission VI of the House of Representatives also conveyed several strategic notes to IDFood. The House of Representatives appreciated the company’s performance in the 2025 evaluation as well as its future business development roadmap.

In addition, Andre encouraged funding support, including interest subsidies and equity participation, to strengthen IDFood’s role in the national food resilience programme. He emphasised that success in maintaining food price stability is an important indicator of the government’s success amid global uncertainties.

Andre also touched on the conditions in several other countries experiencing pressures on energy and food prices, while Indonesia is assessed to still be able to maintain that balance.

“Indonesia is among the countries where fuel prices are still holding steady, including our food. This is something we should be grateful for and appreciate,” he added.
