Andre Rosiade: Prabowo Allocates Rp 44 Billion for Bypass-Unand Campus Road Repairs
The Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the Gerindra Party, Andre Rosiade, announced that President Prabowo Subianto has allocated Rp 44 billion through the Regional Road Presidential Instruction (IJD) for the repair of Mohammad Hatta Road, which connects the Bypass area to the Andalas University (Unand) campus in Limau Manis, Pauh. Andre stated that the repairs will cover a road length of approximately 5.71 kilometres.
Andre shared this information during an inspection of the Pasar Baru area, Pauh District, Padang City, on Friday (18/09/2026), alongside the Head of the West Sumatra National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN) from the Ministry of Public Works (PU), Elsa Putra Friandi. According to Andre, the repairs serve as evidence of the central government’s commitment to assisting regions, particularly regarding road sections that serve as vital access for the public and the Andalas University academic community.
“Alhamdulillah, President Prabowo’s government has issued the Regional Road Presidential Instruction for Mohammad Hatta Road. The total length is approximately 5.7 kilometres with a budget of Rp 44 billion,” said Andre.
Andre explained that the work does not involve road widening, but rather the repair of the pavement layer using the overlay method. He noted that the repairs are being undertaken because the road condition has begun to deteriorate and was previously affected by natural disasters.
“This road is heavily trafficked and has started to suffer damage, especially after being hit by natural disasters. Therefore, we will repair this road so that the people of Padang City using Mohammad Hatta Road can enjoy better road conditions,” he said.
Andre added that the road section is highly strategic as it is used daily by students, lecturers, educational staff, and the general public travelling to the Unand campus area. He expressed hope that mobility towards Unand would become smoother and safer following the repairs.
“From the Bypass to Unand, using the Regional Road Presidential Instruction, this is funded by the State Budget (APBN), amounting to Rp 44 billion,” he emphasised.
According to Andre, this budget allocation demonstrates the central government’s attention to regional infrastructure needs. He assessed that the budgetary support from the Prabowo administration is a crucial part of accelerating infrastructure improvements that directly impact community activities.
“This is a commitment that the central government always provides a budget to assist development in the regions,” he added.
The Head of BPJN West Sumatra, Elsa Putra Friandi, stated that his agency is currently preparing the work implementation documents. The tender process is targeted to take place in early October 2026, followed by physical works and asphalt laying.
“Hopefully, by early October, we can conduct the tender, followed by the asphalt work, and complete it by the end of December,” said Elsa.
Elsa emphasised that the work is in accordance with the proposal from the Padang City Government and the results of road condition evaluations. The handling is focused on overlaying because the pavement layer has worn down, and the project does not include drainage construction.
“In accordance with the city’s proposal, this is only an overlay,” he concluded.
