Andre Rosiade Inspects Unand's Rp 9 Billion Multi-Purpose Building Project, Targeted for Completion in June
Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Andre Rosiade, inspected the construction of the Multi-Purpose Building at Universitas Andalas (Unand) on the Limau Manis Campus in Pauh District, Padang. The Rp 9 billion construction project is targeted for completion in June.
Andre was accompanied by Unand Rector Efa Yonnedi and university officials during the inspection. The current construction progress stands at around 36 per cent.
Andre explained that the building’s construction follows up on a request from Unand Rector Efa Yonnedi in 2024 to facilitate funding support from state-owned enterprises through CSR programmes. These efforts bore fruit with funding from Pertamina amounting to nearly Rp 9 billion.
“At that time, the Rector in 2024 asked us to help facilitate finding CSR funding from state-owned enterprises for building the Multi-Purpose Building. Alhamdulillah, we managed to secure funding from Pertamina, and construction has already begun by Unand,” said Andre to reporters on Thursday (9/4/2026).
The Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Faction in the House of Representatives assured that the building’s construction is targeted to be completed on 21 June 2026, ready to be utilised as a centre for student activities.
“Insya Allah, it will be completed on 21 June 2026. We, along with the Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Investment Management Agency, Dony Oscaria, will inaugurate it,” said Andre, who is also the General Chairman of the Minang Family Association (IKM).
Andre hopes that the inauguration of the multi-purpose building will involve the leadership of the State-Owned Enterprises Investment Management Agency (BP BUMN) along with Pertamina’s management, as a form of synergy between universities and state-owned enterprises in supporting the strengthening of higher education facilities in West Sumatra.
“At the very least, we will arrange for the Head of BP BUMN to inaugurate it, accompanied by Pertamina’s management,” he stated.
The inspection of Universitas Andalas’s Multi-Purpose Building construction forms part of Andre Rosiade’s commitment to strengthening synergy between universities, the central government, and state-owned enterprises to support improvements in human resource quality while accelerating economic growth in West Sumatra.
Unand Rector Efa Yonnedi is also optimistic that the multi-purpose building construction can be completed according to the set timeline.
“Yes, insya Allah, we can complete it on 21 June 2026, after which it will be inaugurated,” said Efa Yonnedi.
Furthermore, the Unand Rector expressed thanks to Andre Rosiade for paving the way for the multi-purpose building’s construction. This is because the existing building is already fully booked throughout the year.
“This will be utilised for students. All activities, events, and others,” said Efa Yonnedi.
The Rector views the multi-purpose building as a strategic space for students to develop creativity and academic as well as non-academic activities.
“This is a space for students to be creative, like a co-working space, and it can also be used for performances and events,” she said.
