Andre Rosiade Inspects Koto Baru Market Road Development Plan, Targeted for Completion in 2027
During the inspection, Andre was accompanied by the Head of the National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN) for West Sumatra, Elsa Putra Friandi. Before visiting the site, Andre had coordinated with the Regent of Tanah Datar, Eka Putra, who was out of the area at the time.
Andre assured that the Tanah Datar Regency Government has expressed readiness to complete the land acquisition process through the 2026 Revised Regional Budget (APBD). Once the land is ready, the alternative road project will be proposed for inclusion in the 2027 Presidential Instruction for Regional Roads (IJD) programme.
“Insya Allah, after the Revised APBD, the budget will be ready. We can execute in September so that by the end of 2026, the land will be prepared. So, by December 2026, Insya Allah, the land will have been provided by the Tanah Datar Regency Government, allowing us to include it in the IJD 2027,” said Andre in his statement on Sunday (10/5/2026).
This Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Faction in the Indonesian House of Representatives emphasised that the Koto Baru alternative road development is on the right track. According to him, coordination between the central and local governments is proceeding well, thereby widening the prospects for resolving the congestion problem.
“We are already on track. Consultations have been done, the land is ready, just waiting for the land acquisition from Regent Eka Putra. Earlier, Mr Eka also conveyed to us that there are no issues,” he stated.
The Chairman of the Gerindra West Sumatra Regional Leadership Council was optimistic that the project could begin execution in 2027 and serve as a solution to the classic problem in the Koto Baru Market area.
“Thus, we hope to alleviate the congestion in Koto Baru. It has been decades and still unresolved? Insya Allah, we will complete this in 2027. Collaboration between the Tanah Datar Regency Government and the Central Government,” Andre stressed.
Meanwhile, the Head of BPJN West Sumatra, Elsa Putra Friandi, explained that the planned alternative road is approximately 1.3 kilometres long, requiring around 21,000 square metres of land. According to her, the budget calculation process is still being adjusted due to the increase in asphalt prices.
“Still adjusting because asphalt prices have risen,” said Elsa.
She also confirmed that the Tanah Datar Regency Government has shown strong commitment to supporting the project’s acceleration through the 2026 Revised APBD.
“So, 21,000 square metres of land are needed, affecting 11 houses. Well, Mr Eka has committed in the Revised APBD,” Elsa stated.
Concluding the inspection, Andre once again expressed optimism that the Koto Baru alternative road project can truly be realised soon.
“Hopefully, the construction of this new road will be completed soon. Later, it can be used for routes from Padang or Bukittinggi, whichever. The important thing is to build the road first!” Andre added.
