Andre Rosiade Increases Aid for SMAN 14 Padang Hall to Rp 400 Million
Deputy Chair of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the Gerindra faction, Andre Rosiade, has once again demonstrated his commitment to improving the quality of education in West Sumatra. During a visit to SMAN 14 Padang today, Andre not only gathered the aspirations of the school community but also increased funding for the construction of a school hall and promised to install air conditioning (AC) in every classroom.
Andre’s arrival was welcomed by the Principal of SMAN 14 Padang, Evidel, the teaching staff, the school committee and hundreds of students. During a dialogue with the school community, a range of educational needs were conveyed directly, from completing the hall’s construction to improving the comfort of learning spaces.
Evidel, Principal of SMAN 14 Padang, expressed appreciation for the attention shown by Andre to the school. According to him, the funding for the hall’s construction would be extremely beneficial as it will serve as a supporting facility for a variety of school activities.
“We thank Mr Andre Rosiade for his assistance with the construction of the hall at our school. This hall can later be used for various school activities,” said Evidel on Friday (24/7/2026).
He also considered Andre’s presence a source of motivation for the students to continue studying and working hard to achieve their ambitions.
“We hope this encourages our children to study diligently so that one day they can be as successful as Mr Andre,” he said.
Similar sentiments were expressed by Ernadi, a member of the SMAN 14 Padang school committee. He praised Andre’s performance as a people’s representative and hoped that his concern for the world of education would inspire the students. Ernadi also requested additional funding for the hall so that its construction could be completed promptly.
“Alhamdulillah, thank you Mr Andre Rosiade. Today he came directly to the school and has once again provided assistance for us,” he said.
In response to these aspirations, Andre immediately declared his readiness to add Rp 300 million to the hall’s construction budget. With this addition, the total assistance provided amounts to Rp 400 million, following an earlier allocation of Rp 100 million.
“Please submit a follow-up proposal for the hall’s construction. I will add another Rp 300 million. Previously there was already Rp 100 million in assistance,” said Andre, who also chairs the Gerindra Party’s regional leadership council (DPD) for West Sumatra.
Not stopping there, Andre also committed to improving the comfort of the teaching and learning process by helping to install air conditioning in every classroom at SMAN 14 Padang.
“We will also help install AC in all classrooms. There are 31 classrooms that will be fitted with air conditioning so that the teaching and learning process becomes more comfortable,” said Andre.
Andre also outlined the progress of several strategic infrastructure projects in West Sumatra, including the construction of the Padang–Pekanbaru toll road. He is optimistic that the Padang Panjang–Bukittinggi section can be completed by October 2028.
As for the Sicincin–Padang Panjang section, which will be built through a tunnel route, Andre said the construction process is estimated to take around five years to complete.
“Accelerating infrastructure development will have a major impact on economic growth, connectivity and regional progress, including supporting the improvement of education quality in West Sumatra,” he concluded.
