Deputy Speaker of Commission VI of the DPR RI from the Gerindra faction, Andre Rosiade, inaugurated Telkomsel’s BTS in Nagari Kamang Hilia, Kamang Magek District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. The arrival of the BTS was welcome news for residents who had long yearned for better mobile signal in their area. Rosiade expressed appreciation to Telkomsel’s management, particularly the West Sumatra regional team, which he said had been responsive in addressing the community’s needs for telecommunications services. ‘Thanks to the Telkomsel Central Sumatra colleagues, especially CEO Nugroho, who have always acted swiftly to meet the aspirations of West Sumatra residents who want their village to have signal,’ he said at the inauguration on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. The inauguration was attended by Novi Irwan, a member of the Agam Regency DPRD from the Gerindra faction; Kamang Hilia’s Wali Nagari Eryanson; and Telkomsel representatives, including NOP Manager Bukittinggi Surya Firdaus and Mobile Broadband Supervisor Hafiz Alsatori. A number of community leaders and local residents also attended to witness a milestone in enhancing telecommunications services in the nagari. The construction and inauguration of the BTS follow community aspirations who had long complained about difficulty obtaining stable mobile signals. With this infrastructure, it is hoped that residents’ communication needs and Internet access will be met more effectively. Rosiade hopes the BTS site in Kamang Hilia will alleviate the community’s communication isolation and support various digital activities, including education, the economy, and nagari governance coordination. He also stressed that the BTS construction is part of his commitment to promoting equal access to technology across his electoral district, West Sumatra II. He reminded of the importance of community and nagari government in safeguarding the facility. ‘Hopefully this will benefit the community. We request nagari officials to safeguard this BTS tower, because battery theft, cable theft, and other equipment theft are widespread,’ he said. He confirmed he would push for the construction of a telecommunications tower in Kamang Mudiak. This followed a proposal from Novi Irwan, Chairman of the Gerindra Party’s Agam Regency branch, to improve network access in the area. According to Andre, the presence of the BTS is crucial to strengthening Internet access for the community, supporting children’s education and economic activities. Meanwhile, Eryanson thanked Andre Rosiade for his efforts in advocating for the Kamang Hilia community. He stated that the facility had long been awaited due to the limited quality of telecommunications in the area. Eryanson also specifically thanked Andre Rosiade for helping champion the community’s needs. ‘Thank you, Mr Andre, the son of Pisang lineage in Kamang Hilia. May further assistance continue to flow here. God willing, we will safeguard this BTS together,’ he said. Surya Firdaus, Telkomsel Bukittinggi’s NOP Manager, explained that the BTS code site LBB085 Jalan Tangah Kamang, Kamang Hilia, covers several areas including Jorong Bancah, Batu Baraguang, Jorong Dalam Koto, and Nagari Kamang Hilir. ‘There was also a request to increase its capacity, and we will pursue that soon,’ he added.
