Andre Rosiade Inaugurates Telkomsel BTS in Kajai, Pariaman, Ending Blank Spot
Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Andre Rosiade, inaugurated the operational Base Transceiver Station (BTS) of Telkomsel in Kajai Village, East Pariaman Subdistrict, City of Pariaman. The presence of this BTS ends the blank spot problem that has hindered residents’ activities for years.
The inauguration took place on Sunday (5/4/2026). Attendees included Pariaman Mayor Yota Balad, Telkomsel Bukittinggi Network Operations Productivity Manager Surya Firdaus, along with local government officials, community leaders, and residents.
Andre emphasised that the construction of the BTS in Kajai Village is the result of collaboration between the DPR RI, the Pariaman City Government, and the state-owned enterprise through Telkomsel. Relevant parties coordinated to ensure equitable digital access even to previously unreachable areas.
“Alhamdulillah, after receiving aspirations from the Mayor and community leaders, we immediately coordinated with Telkomsel’s Board of Directors. Today, we prove that the signal is present and can be utilised by the community. This is evidence of real work from the collaboration between the DPR RI, local government, and SOEs,” said Andre.
According to Andre, the existence of this BTS is not merely about providing telecommunications signals but also opening access to education, government services, and digital economic opportunities for the community. He encouraged students and MSME actors to utilise the internet network to improve education quality and expand marketing of local products to outside the region and even abroad.
Andre also assured that efforts to eliminate blank spots in Pariaman City are ongoing. In the near future, an additional BTS in Sungai Rambai Village will be realised soon so that the entire Pariaman area is connected to telecommunications networks equitably.
“We want Pariaman to truly be free from blank spots. After Kajai, Sungai Rambai will follow. The target is clear: the community must not be left behind in access to information and technology,” emphasised the Chairman General of the Minang Family Association (IKM).
Meanwhile, Pariaman Mayor Yota Balad expressed appreciation for Andre Rosiade’s commitment, which he assessed as quickly responding to community needs. He stated that Kajai Village had experienced network access limitations for years, impacting education activities, public services, and residents’ communication.
“For the last approximately five years, this area has been a blank spot. Even for a long time, residents have had difficulty getting signals. Alhamdulillah, less than a year since we conveyed the aspirations, this BTS has been built and immediately operationalised,” said Yota Balad.
Yota assessed that the presence of the Telkomsel BTS is a strategic step to accelerate digital transformation in Pariaman and support improvements in technology-based government services.
