Andre Rosiade Fulfils Aspirations, SDN 48 Ganting to Get New Classrooms
Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Gerindra faction, Andre Rosiade, has fulfilled community aspirations by pushing for the construction of new classrooms at SDN 48 Ganting in Padang City. The facility will be built to improve comfort and the quality of the teaching and learning process at the school.
He conveyed this during a visit to SDN 48 Ganting in Batang Kabung Ganting Village, Koto Tangah District, Padang City, on Friday. Andre immediately responded to the school’s needs by allocating Rp300 million in assistance for the construction of new classrooms. The aid was provided after Andre heard first-hand complaints from the school, which has been forced to implement a morning and afternoon shift learning system due to a lack of classrooms.
“Alhamdulillah, I was able to visit and meet with parents and the community around SDN 48 Batang Kabung Ganting. We see good development at this school and will certainly continue to help,” said Andre, who is also the General Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the Minang Family Association.
During the visit, Andre also held a dialogue with the headmaster, teachers, parents, and students regarding the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Programme. Hundreds of students expressed their delight in receiving the programme’s benefits and hoped it would continue as it helps meet their nutritional needs. According to Andre, he encountered the same enthusiasm during a visit to SMAN 14 Padang on the same day.
“Earlier at SMAN 14 Padang, we also received information that the Free Nutritious Meal Programme is very popular and they want it to continue. Now at SDN 48 it is the same. This means that President Prabowo’s flagship programme is very relevant and truly needed by students. We just need to perfect it through various evaluations,” he stated. Andre is optimistic that the programme’s implementation will improve under the leadership of the new Head of the National Nutrition Agency. “Currently, my friend Sudaryono is the Head of the National Nutrition Agency, having just been inaugurated by the President. God willing, this programme will get better. Let us support it together,” he said.
The Head of SDN 48 Batang Kabung Ganting, Defi Liarni, expressed appreciation for the attention Andre Rosiade has given to her school. According to her, in addition to channelling the Smart Indonesia Programme to 70 underprivileged students this year, Andre had previously helped with the construction of paving blocks now used by the entire school community. “We thank Mr Andre for the continued attention given to our school. Alhamdulillah, the previous Rp100 million in assistance was used to install paving blocks and add school toilets,” said Defi.
Defi explained that the high public interest in enrolling children at SDN 48 is not matched by the available classroom capacity. For the 2025/2026 academic year, 197 prospective students registered, but only 27 could be accepted. Meanwhile, for the 2026/2027 academic year, there were 98 applicants, but the school could only accept 28 students due to limited classrooms. As a result, teaching and learning activities must still be conducted in two shifts, morning and afternoon. “Due to limited space, we still implement a morning and afternoon shift system. We hope Mr Andre can help with the construction of new classrooms,” she said.
Responding to these aspirations, Andre immediately confirmed assistance worth Rp300 million for classroom construction. “I have received this complaint. God willing, I will help with Rp300 million for classroom construction. The funds can be used to build around three new classrooms so that the teaching and learning process improves,” Andre asserted. In addition to discussions with the school, Andre also absorbed various aspirations from the attending community. He emphasised his commitment to fighting for residents’ needs, particularly in the education sector, so that the quality of education services in Padang City improves and children’s access to learning is no longer hindered by limited facilities.
