Andre Rosiade Distributes 300 Sembako Packages to Porters and Airport Workers at Minangkabau International Airport (BIM)
Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives’ Commission VI from the Gerindra faction, Andre Rosiade, distributed 300 sembako packages to porters, cleaning staff and workers at Minangkabau International Airport (BIM) on Thursday afternoon, 5 March 2026. The aid was provided as a form of concern for the workers who support the airport’s operations daily.
Rosiade also took time to speak with the airport workers, listening directly to many stories and hopes from porters and other staff about working conditions and expectations for an increase in flight activity at BIM.
He hopes that a rising number of flights at BIM will positively affect the welfare of the workers, particularly porters and service staff who depend on passenger activity.
Rosiade said the sembako aid is a form of attention to workers who play a crucial role in supporting airport operations as the main gateway to West Sumatra.
“Porters, cleaning staff, and airport workers are at the frontline in providing services to the people who come and go through Minangkabau International Airport. We want to show that their hard work is highly appreciated,” said the chair of the Gerindra Sumbar DPD in a written statement, Friday (6 March 2026).
Rosiade hopes the aviation conditions at BIM will continue to improve so that airport activity returns to its previous bustling level. According to him, more flights and more passengers coming means greater opportunities for airport workers to increase their income.
“We in Commission VI of the DPR RI also continue to push various efforts to develop the air transport sector and airport management. If flights increase, it will have a direct impact on the welfare of workers such as porters and service staff at this airport,” said the head of Ikatan Keluarga Minang (IKM).
Wakil Bendahara DPD Partai Gerindra Sumbar Hendra Afnezola praised Rosiade’s steps, continuing to show care for the public, including BIM workers.
According to Hendra, social activities such as distributing sembako are tangible proof of Andre Rosiade’s commitment to always be present in the community and to deliver direct benefits to West Sumatrans. “We express full support for various programmes and activities by Bang Andre aimed at helping the public,” he said.
Iwan, BIM porter coordinator, expressed appreciation and thanks for the attention given by Rosiade to airport workers.
“We are very grateful to Mr. Rosiade for giving sembako aid to porters and workers at this airport. This aid means a lot to us and our families,” Iwan said.
Iwan said the attention given by Rosiade makes workers feel valued for the work they perform daily in serving passengers at the airport.
“Not everyone sees our on-site work. But with Mr. Rosiade’s presence and the aid given, we feel supported and cared for,” he said.
Iwan hopes such attention can continue and BIM’s flight activity increases so the income of porters and airport workers can improve further.
“We certainly hope BIM flights become busier so more passengers come. If more passengers come, our income as porters will also rise,” he said.
