Deputy Chair of Commission VI of the DPR RI from the Gerindra Party faction, Andre Rosiade, distributed 3,000 basic food parcels to residents of Lima Puluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra (Sumbar). The activity began with the symbolic handing over of 500 parcels at the DPC Gerindra Lima Puluh Kota office in Sarilamak, attended by hundreds of residents from various nagari. In the event, Andre was accompanied by the Regent of Lima Puluh Kota, Syafni Sikumbang, as well as the Chair of the DPC Gerindra Lima Puluh Kota, Deni Asra, and members of the Gerindra faction in the local DPRD. The atmosphere of camaraderie was warm, especially since the event took place in Ramadan, a holy month. Andre said his presence in Sarilamak was not merely a routine official visit but part of the commitment of Gerindra cadres to always be among the people and listen directly to the people’s aspirations. “As a cadre of the Gerindra Party and a protégé of Mr Prabowo Subianto, our obligation is to be present among the people, not only during campaigns or ahead of elections,” he said in a written statement on Wednesday (4/3/2026). Andre emphasised that although he was elected from the Sumbar I electoral district while Lima Puluh Kota lies in Sumbar II, it does not stop him from fighting for the region’s interests at the centre. “Even though I was elected from Sumbar I and Lima Puluh Kota is in Sumbar II, for me as long as it is Minangkabau land and part of West Sumatra, it is my duty to advocate for its aspirations at the centre,” said the chairman of the Sumbar Gerindra Regional Leadership Council. In the occasion, Andre also responded to several aspirations, especially regarding the construction of the district capital (IKK) Sarilamak, the issue of telecommunications networks still experiencing blank spots, and the need for road infrastructure development in several areas. As Deputy Chair of Commission VI, which partners with several strategic state-owned enterprises, including the telecommunications and construction sectors, Andre said he was ready to safeguard those aspirations so that they could be realised. “What was conveyed today about Sarilamak’s IKK, the signal and the roads. We have only just built a Telkomsel BTS in Koto Tinggi, Lima Puluh Kota,” he said. “I emphasise, as Deputy Chair of Commission VI which partners with state-owned enterprises including Telkom, I will oversee it. We want Sarilamak to truly become the face of the district’s capital that makes us proud,” he added. Andre also asked local governments and Gerindra administrators in the region to promptly provide data on locations where telecommunications networks are still problematic so that they can be acted upon. “Regarding blank spots or weak signal, please send me the data, which points require a tower. We will push Telkomsel to build them promptly so that people can communicate well and our children can study smoothly,” he said. In addition to dialogue with the community, Andre distributed a total of 3,000 basic food parcels to residents of Lima Puluh Kota. At the initial stage, 500 parcels were distributed symbolically during the Sarilamak event, while the remainder would be distributed to 13 districts in the area. Andre hoped the aid would help residents, particularly during Ramadan. “Today we brought a small token, around 3,000 basic food parcels for the people of Lima Puluh Kota. Do not judge by the value, but see this as a display of our affection and concern,” he said. Meanwhile, the Regent of Lima Puluh Kota, Syafni Sikumbang, expressed appreciation for Andre’s attention and concern for residents in the region. Syafni regards Andre as a public representative who consistently champions the aspirations of West Sumatra’s people at the national level. “The presence of Mr. Andre Rosiade among us today is a blessing, especially in Ramadan. We know how persistent he is in the centre in advancing the aspirations of West Sumatra, including Lima Puluh Kota,” she said. According to Syafni, many development programs can be implemented in the region thanks to the synergy between the regional government and national lawmakers. “As the regional government, we are very grateful for the synergy that has been built. Many development programs, both infrastructure and social assistance, reach our region thanks to the guidance and oversight of Mr. Andre Rosiade at the centre,” she stated. Similarly, Deni Asra, the chair of the Gerindra DPC Lima Puluh Kota, expressed gratitude to Andre for his attention and commitment to helping development in the region. According to Deni, the people of Lima Puluh Kota were very enthusiastic about Andre’s visit, with some even arriving early in the morning to attend the gathering. “The enthusiasm of the people is extraordinary. Many have been here since eight in the morning waiting for Mr. Andre,” he said. Deni also said that Andre is a widely known figure as a vocal public representative who defends the interests of the region at the national level. “Mr. Andre is known as the ‘Tiger of Parliament’ who always speaks out for the people. Although he comes from the Sumbar I electoral district, his commitment to helping all of West Sumatra never wavers,” he added. He hopes that with Andre’s support and advocacy in the DPR RI, various development needs in Lima Puluh Kota can be accelerated, including road infrastructure, strengthening telecommunications networks, and developing Sarilamak as the regional capital.
