Andre Rosiade Confirms Secure Budget for 165 Railway Crossing Guards in West Sumatra
The meeting served as a breath of fresh air for the people of West Sumatra, particularly residents living and working near railway tracks. He explained that with budget support for crossing guards and plans to build crossing gates in 2027, public safety is expected to be increasingly assured, and the risk of level crossing accidents can be significantly reduced.
Andre assured that the central government is giving serious attention to the safety of people around railway tracks. One important piece of news brought by Andre is the certainty of the budget for 165 railway crossing guards in West Sumatra, which had previously been feared to no longer be available.
“Alhamdulillah, last week I already communicated with Mr Minister and Mr Director General. The Ministry of Transportation has resolved that the budget is prepared until the end of 2026. Insyaallah, the 165 people guarding the 54 crossings in West Sumatra are covered by the budget from the Ministry of Transportation,” said Andre Rosiade in his statement on Wednesday (6/5/2026).
The Chairman of the Gerindra Party’s West Sumatra Regional Representative Council described this step as a tangible manifestation of President Prabowo Subianto’s government’s presence in addressing community needs, particularly regarding transportation safety and public services in the regions.
Not only ensuring the continuity of the crossing guards’ budget, Andre also revealed the central government’s commitment to building crossing gates at all points in West Sumatra starting in 2027.
“Mr Minister, the Central Government, and Mr Director General already have a policy; insyaallah in 2027, crossing gates will be built so that the 54 crossings in West Sumatra will have better security,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Dudy Purwagandhi said his side would follow up on the aspirations conveyed by Andre Rosiade to improve safety at railway crossings.
“We express our thanks for what Mr Andre has conveyed to us as the aspirations of the West Sumatra community. We will always pay attention to priorities, and insyaallah in line with the President’s instructions, the level crossing issues will be resolved in 2027,” said Dudy Purwagandhi.
Meanwhile, Allan Tandiono also expressed appreciation for Andre Rosiade’s attention and support for the railway sector in West Sumatra. Allan views communication and synergy between the Indonesian House of Representatives and the government as very important so that field issues can be handled promptly.
“We thank Mr Andre Rosiade for coming directly to convey the aspirations of the West Sumatra community. This becomes a shared concern so that railway safety and services in West Sumatra improve in the future,” Allan concluded.
