Andre Rosiade Calls for Collaboration Among Minang Migrants in Inaugurating DPP IKM 2025-2030
The Central Executive Board of the Minang Family Association (DPP IKM) for the 2025-2030 period has been officially inaugurated. The event also served as a moment to strengthen ties among the Minangkabau community abroad and enhance synergy with central and regional governments.
The inauguration, combined with a halalbihalal gathering for Minang migrants, took place at the Nusantara IV building of the DPR/MPR RI on Saturday (11/4/2026). The event was attended by various prominent figures, including the President’s Special Envoy for Youth Development and Arts Workers, Raffi Ahmad; Minister of Manpower Yassierli; Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor; Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot Tanjung; and West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah. Additionally, regents, mayors, and IKM officials from across Indonesia were present.
DPP IKM General Chairman Andre Rosiade stated that this inauguration marks a strategic moment to bolster collaboration between Minang migrants and their homeland to accelerate West Sumatra’s development and provide greater contributions to Indonesia.
“Today is an important moment for us all. The presence of the President’s Special Envoy among us is not just an ordinary visit, but a sign of the central government’s attention to Minangkabau’s youth and arts workers,” said Andre Rosiade.
Rosiade emphasised that the IKM extended family and West Sumatra society must remain solid by adhering to the Minangkabau philosophy “Basamo Mangkonyo Jadi”. He added that DPP IKM will continue to serve as a strategic bridge between migrants and communities in the homeland.
According to him, the strength of the Minang migrant network is a significant social capital that must be managed directionally to support regional progress.
“We at DPP IKM are committed to being a strong bridge between migrants and the homeland. The spirit of togetherness must continue to be ignited to build a more advanced, prosperous, and competitive West Sumatra,” stated Andre, who leads DPP IKM alongside Secretary General Braditi Moulevey and Treasurer Muhammad Reza Ikhwan.
Andre also called on all Minang people, wherever they may be, to continue supporting national development programmes under President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership, as well as strengthening concrete contributions to West Sumatra’s advancement.
Meanwhile, Raffi Ahmad conveyed warm greetings from Prabowo to the Minangkabau community. He affirmed that the central government always supports West Sumatra and Minang people throughout Indonesia.
“The President sends his greetings to the Minang people. He always ensures that the Minang community never walks alone. West Sumatra is always in his heart, steps, and breath,” said Raffi Ahmad.
According to him, the strong character and high spirit of togetherness among the Minangkabau people are important strengths in facing various national challenges.
“Minangkabau is strong, never walking alone. The togetherness of Minang people is not just in words, but in the heart, steps, and breath,” said this Minang son.
On the same occasion, Mahyeldi Ansharullah stated that Minang migrants hold a strategic position as the glue of national unity and the driving force for regional progress.
“We appreciate this inauguration of DPP IKM. Especially since it is led by Mr Andre Rosiade, who has greatly helped West Sumatra as a member of the DPR RI. If we may request, all DPR RI members from West Sumatra should emulate Mr Andre Rosiade’s performance,” said Mahyeldi, who admitted to often receiving criticism from Andre Rosiade but is very grateful because it all stems from love for West Sumatra.
According to him, the tradition of migration has shaped the Minangkabau people’s character, particularly their adaptability, resilience, and ability to contribute in various national sectors without abandoning customary and cultural values.
“We hope that Minang people wherever they are become the glue of national unity, role models in compliance with rules, and continue to enhance their quality and professionalism so that their contributions to Indonesia grow even larger,” he said.
Mahyeldi also emphasised that the Minangkabau philosophy “wherever the earth is trodden, there the sky is upheld” serves as a strong foundation for Minang migrants to adapt and play active roles in diverse societies without losing their cultural identity.
This inauguration of the DPP IKM executives is expected to mark the beginning of strengthened organisational consolidation and to underscore the strategic role of Minang migrants in supporting the development of West Sumatra and Indonesia.
