Andre Rosiade: BNI Returns Rp 28 Billion to Customers as Proof of Prabowo Government's Support for the People
Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Andre Rosiade, expressed appreciation for BNI’s initiative to return funds to customers related to the alleged embezzlement case involving parishioners’ funds from the Catholic Church Paroki Aek Nabara by former BNI Branch Office Head Andi Hakim Febriansyah, amounting to Rp 28 billion. Andre stated that BNI’s decision represents a form of responsibility to the public and a commitment to maintaining customer trust.
“As the leader of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, I give my appreciation to BNI for acting swiftly and demonstrating a high commitment to returning the money of the parishioners from the Catholic Church Paroki Aek Nabara. BNI’s responsive approach in following up on issues faced by the community and ensuring customers’ rights are fulfilled deserves appreciation as a form of accountability for the national banking institution,” said Andre in a statement to reporters on Sunday (19/4/2026).
The Chairman of the Gerindra Party’s Sumatera Barat Regional Board stated that BNI’s decision also aligns with the directives and commitments of President Prabowo Subianto towards the people. Andre emphasised that Prabowo always instructs his subordinates to be responsive in handling public issues.
“This step shows that the government of President Prabowo Subianto listens to input and aspirations from the community. It also demonstrates President Prabowo’s commitment to siding with the people and encouraging all institutions and state-owned enterprises to be responsive to public complaints and provide quick solutions to community problems,” said Andre.
Furthermore, Andre hopes this case will serve as an evaluation for BNI. He hopes BNI will continue to improve services and maintain customer trust.
“BNI previously stated that the ‘Deposito Investment’ offered by the former employee did not originate from BNI’s official system. Therefore, I hope this case becomes an evaluation point, and BNI continues to enhance service quality, strengthen customer protection systems, and serve as the forefront in supporting Indonesia’s people’s economy,” said Andre.
BNI’s Explanation
BNI has provided an explanation regarding the alleged embezzlement case of parishioners’ funds by former BNI Branch Office Head Andi Hakim Febriansyah. BNI assured that it will return customer funds in accordance with the progress of the investigation.
“We will carry out the resolution within this timeframe; we are processing it, and it is assured that from Monday to Friday this week during working hours, we will return it,” said BNI’s Director of Human Capital & Compliance, Munadi Herlambang, during a virtual press conference on Sunday (19/4/2026).
Munadi said the case was uncovered in February 2026 through internal supervision results. Munadi mentioned that the total funds embezzled by Andi amounted to Rp 28 billion based on the police investigation. Andi Hakim has now been named a suspect and is detained.
“Based on the police investigation developments we received as of yesterday, Saturday, it has been concluded that the amount of funds embezzled is estimated at around Rp 28 billion; this case was first uncovered in February 2026 from BNI’s internal supervision results,” said Munadi.
Munadi explained that this incident was an action by an individual rogue operating outside banking procedures. He stated that the investment product offered to church parishioners, named ‘Deposito Investment’, by the suspect was not an official BNI product.
“This incident is an action by an individual rogue who conducted transactions outside the system, beyond authority, and official banking procedures, and the product used in this case is not an official BNI product and is not recorded in BNI’s operational system,” said Munadi.
