Deputy Chairman of House of Representatives Commission VI Andre Rosiade and Danantara Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria commenced the reconstruction of SDN 49 Batang Kabung in Koto Tangah district, Padang, which was damaged by a natural disaster. Andre said the construction represents a commitment to ensuring children can resume their studies.

The school building was swept away by flash floods, known locally as galodo, on Friday 28 November 2025. The reconstruction now comprises six classrooms and four functional rooms. The ceremony, held on Friday 20 February 2026, was also attended by Inalum President Director Melati Sartina, West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi, Padang Mayor Fadly Amran, Padang DPRD Chairman Muharlion, and the Padang regional leadership coordination forum (Forkopimda). The reconstruction was marked by the joint pressing of a siren button and the unveiling of a construction information board.

"Our children must not be left studying under constrained conditions for too long. Damaged schools must be rebuilt immediately so that the educational process can proceed normally and with quality. This is our shared responsibility — the central government, regional governments, state-owned enterprises, and the community," said Andre, who also distributed 500 basic necessities packages to parents and local residents.

According to Andre, the presence of Danantara and SOE support demonstrates that the state under President Prabowo's leadership is present among disaster-affected communities. Andre also affirmed that House Commission VI would continue to oversee the swift, transparent, and well-targeted implementation of education facility recovery programmes.

Dony Oskaria expressed appreciation for PT Inalum's initiative in assisting the reconstruction of schools damaged by disasters. He considered Inalum's contribution a concrete example of the role SOEs play in helping communities and supporting education.

"We appreciate Inalum for having moved to assist the reconstruction of disaster-damaged schools. This is tangible proof that SOEs can be directly present among the people. We hope other SOEs will also help rebuild damaged schools so that educational recovery can be faster and more equitable," Dony said.

Inalum President Director Melati stated that the company's involvement in rebuilding SDN 49 Batang Kabung is part of its commitment to contributing to national education development, particularly in disaster-affected areas. She noted that Inalum focuses not only on industry but also on community social development.

"We believe education is the foundation of the nation's future. Therefore, when a school is damaged by disaster, we feel called upon to help. We hope the construction of SDN 49 Batang Kabung can be completed soon and that children can return to studying comfortably," said the Inalum President Director.

Padang Mayor Fadly expressed gratitude to Andre Rosiade, Danantara, and Inalum for their tangible support for education in Padang. He said the reconstruction of SDN 49 Batang Kabung is deeply meaningful for the Batang Kabung community, which has had to adapt to limited learning facilities.

"We are very grateful for the attention and support from all parties. The reconstruction of SDN 49 Batang Kabung represents a great hope for our children to be able to study in a safe and proper environment. The Padang city government is fully prepared to support the construction so that it proceeds smoothly and on schedule," said the Padang Mayor.
