The Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Gerindra Party, Andre Rosiade, has handed over one ambulance unit to the Riak Laut Fishermen’s Group alongside the Al Hidayah Riak Laut Foundation in Lohong Village, Central Pariaman, Pariaman City.

Andre stated that the ambulance donation is a form of his commitment to assisting communities in need. The request for the ambulance was previously conveyed directly by the fishermen during a meeting with him several months ago.

“Alhamdulillah, today we are able to hand over the ambulance to the Riak Laut Fishermen’s Group and the Al Hidayah Riak Laut Foundation in Lohong, Central Pariaman. I hope this ambulance can be utilised effectively and provide benefits to the community,” Andre said in a statement on Thursday (3/9/2026).

This was announced during the handover ceremony held at the Official Residence of the Mayor of Pariaman, which was received by the fishermen’s group and foundation officials. The event was also attended by the Mayor of Pariaman, Yota Balad, along with several heads of regional apparatus organisations (OPD), community leaders, traditional elders (ninik mamende), and representatives of the coastal community last Friday (21/8).

According to Andre, the presence of an ambulance is highly necessary for residents living in coastal areas. Previously, residents often faced obstacles when needing vehicles to transport the sick or those in emergency conditions.

“This is a form of our commitment to the people, even though this area is outside our electoral constituency,” he added.

The Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party in the House of Representatives emphasised that this assistance is part of an ongoing effort to support the people of West Sumatra. He expressed hope that the ambulance would be well-managed and used for social purposes, particularly for fishermen and residents in the Pariaman coastal area.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Pariaman, Yota Balad, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Andre Rosiade for his attention and care towards the people of Pariaman City.

According to Yota, the ambulance donation is highly significant for coastal communities, especially fishermen who have long required vehicle access for health and emergency needs.

“Thank you, Mr Andre Rosiade. This ambulance will be very beneficial for the coastal communities working as fishermen. This ambulance has been awaited, and today it has finally arrived. Alhamdulillah,” said Yota, accompanied by community leader Syahrul Ridha.

Yota also noted that this donation is not the only form of support provided by Andre Rosiade to Pariaman City. He stated that Andre has provided various forms of support, ranging from infrastructure development and economic strengthening to disaster relief.

On the other hand, the Chairman of the Riak Laut Fishermen’s Group, Deri, expressed his gratitude for the ambulance. He noted that the vehicle had been long-awaited by residents, as the community had faced difficulties securing an ambulance during medical emergencies.

“Alhamdulillah, thank you, Mr Andre Rosiade. We pray for your continued health and success. With this ambulance, we will feel more at ease when residents need assistance,” he said.

Deri hopes that the ambulance will be utilised to its maximum potential as a shared facility for the residents of Lohong Village and the surrounding coastal areas.

For information, the handover was also attended by several officials from the Pariaman City Government, including the Head of the Public Works Department, the Head of the Education Department, the Head of Communications and Informatics, the Acting Head of the Civil Service Police Unit, the Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Head of the Transportation Department, the Head of the Inspectorate, and the Village Head of Lohong.
