Andra Soni Targets Banten Road Repairs to Be Completed 10 Days Before Eid
Banten Governor Andra Soni has targeted the completion of road repairs across Banten ten days before Eid al-Fitr, encompassing roads under provincial, central government, and district/municipal jurisdiction.
Andra has requested the Banten Provincial Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR) to coordinate with all relevant parties, even for repair works not carried out by the provincial government.
“I have asked Pak Arlan (Head of Banten PUPR) that even though it is not within our authority, we should pay attention and coordinate with the relevant parties,” Andra said on Thursday (19/2/2026).
Andra said he had received reports from Banten residents regarding damaged national roads. He indicated he would communicate with the Ministry of Public Works or other parties responsible for addressing the road issues.
“Many national roads are full of potholes. It is not our job to fix them, but we coordinate. The same applies to district roads,” he said.
Andra stated that road repairs must be carried out immediately. He acknowledged that pre-mudik repairs would be temporary measures whilst awaiting permanent works by contractors.
“Pending the tendering and contracting process, please understand that this is temporary remediation. We are building communication through coordination meetings, with a target of ten days before Eid,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Banten Provincial PUPR Agency said coordination had already been established with both the central government and district/municipal governments. The Banten provincial government is working on six priority road sections under its jurisdiction.
“They have confirmed everything will be completed ten days before Eid. As for our jurisdiction, the priority is on six road sections that serve as alternative routes, typically used for tourism. This is indeed routine annual maintenance,” he said.
