Andra Soni Orders DLHK to Take Firm Action Against Company Suspected of Turning Cisadane River Black
Banten Governor Andra Soni has reported findings of suspected pollution in the Cisadane River in the Pakuhaji and Teluknaga areas of Tangerang Regency. Andra stated that one company is the cause of the river water turning black. He has instructed the Banten Provincial Environment and Forestry Service (DLHK) to follow up on the matter. Based on field findings, the black water originates from a discharge channel at the Kali Sabi estuary in Kampung Bayur, Periuk Jaya Urban Village, Periuk District, Tangerang City. “The Banten DLHK has conducted an investigation and has found the source point of why the Cisadane River changed colour to black,” Andra Soni said on Monday (20/7/2026). Andra Soni emphasised that one industry is suspected to be the cause of the downstream section of the Cisadane River turning black. “The cause has been found. I have asked the Banten Provincial DLHK to coordinate with the Tangerang City Environmental Service to immediately follow up,” he said. Andra requested that the company be processed according to the rules. He called for firm sanctions against the company if it is proven to have violated regulations. “If proven to have violated, immediate firm and measured action must be taken in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations,” he stated.
