Andra Soni Guarantees Food Supplies Safe in Banten, Urges Citizens Not to Panic
Banten Governor Andra Soni stated that food stocks ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 or Eid 2026 are secure. He urged the public not to panic by making excessive purchases of essential goods.
Andra Soni inaugurated the Ramadan Bazaar at Al Bantani Mosque, Banten Provincial Government Complex (KP3B), on Tuesday (10 March 2026). The bazaar featured several stands selling basic necessities.
One stand that drew large crowds was a discounted cooking oil stand from a major brand. Oil typically priced at approximately IDR 40,000 per two litres was being sold for IDR 30,000.
“This bazaar is being held as part of price stabilisation efforts and support for the community regarding essential goods during the fasting month or Ramadan. Today there is support from several agencies and also from the business world, which is providing their products at prices lower than market rates directly to the public,” said Andra.
Andra explained that prices of several commodities had increased. He said he would prevent merchant misconduct such as hoarding.
“The Department of Industry and Trade continuously implements measures to prevent misconduct or improper practices carried out by irresponsible parties, one of which is hoarding and the like. We also coordinate with the Police and other relevant parties,” he stated.
Andra affirmed that food stocks remain secure. “Stocks remain safe,” he said.
He also appealed to the public to be wise in managing daily needs and not to panic. According to him, the government is working to restrain inflation ahead of Eid.
“Do not panic because the government continues to work. The Banten Provincial Government, through the Food Security Agency, Agriculture Department, and Department of Industry and Trade, continues to coordinate efforts to restrain the pace of inflation in Banten Province,” he said.
