Andi/Supriyadi take beach volleyball gold
CEBU CITY: Indonesian men's beach volleyball pair Andi Ardiansyah and Supriyadi brought home the Southeast Asian Games gold on Sunday by defeating archrivals and compatriots Agus Salim and Koko Prasetyo Darkuncoro.
The national number two pair came back after losing the first game for a 17-21, 21-16, 15-12 victory over the defending champions, a result that may lead to a change in the rankings.
The bronze was taken by the Philippine pair of Parley Tupas and Rhovil Verayo.
In the women's competition, Thai pair Kamultip Kulna and Jarunee Sannok won the gold after defeating their compatriots Yupa Phokongploy and Usa Tenpaksee 2-0 (21-12, 21-19).
The Indonesian duo of Ni Putu Timy and Devota lost in the bronze medal playoff to the Philippines' Diane Pascua and Heidi Ilustre 0-2 (19-21, 16-21). -- JP
