Andi Gani Reveals Prabowo Personally Designed Workers' T-Shirts for May Day Celebration
President of the Indonesian Confederation of All Trade Unions (KSPSI) Andi Gani Nena Wea recounted preparations for the International Labour Day or May Day 2026 celebrations. He stated that President Prabowo Subianto paid extremely detailed attention, even personally designing the T-shirts to be worn by the workers’ masses.
This story was revealed by Andi Gani during a press conference of the 2026 May Day Committee in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta. He admitted to being moved when specially summoned by Prabowo to discuss these technical matters since early March.
“Since early March, President Prabowo has shown extraordinary attention. I was called by the President, we sat together, and he specially designed the May Day T-shirts. This is what I must convey to the public, how much he cares for the workers,” said Andi Gani to reporters on Monday (27/4/2026).
Andi Gani recounted that discussions on the design took place several times. Prabowo, he said, repeatedly requested colour changes and ensured the T-shirt material used was of high quality so that the workers would not feel hot while demonstrating at Monas.
“He wants the best, the T-shirts should not be the kind that make you hot. A President, the head of state, has been thinking about workers not getting hot since three months before May Day. He also requested that images of female workers be added, not just men,” he revealed.
In addition to T-shirts, Prabowo is said to have also helped design the umbrellas to be distributed to demonstration participants.
“‘The workers will get hot later, Pak Andi. Give them umbrellas.’ Wow, umbrellas, I’ll design them.’ The President did that right away. This story is what I must share with the public: the President has no business with politics or anything; he is truly a father to his children,” said Andi.
Andi revealed that Prabowo does not want workers to be disappointed when participating in the May Day commemoration. He ensured that all costs for procuring the T-shirts and umbrellas would not use state funds.
“He has asked us to prepare the T-shirts and umbrellas so that all workers are happy,” he stated.
For information, the 2026 International Labour Day or May Day commemoration will be held at the National Monument (Monas), Central Jakarta, this week. It is estimated that around 400,000 people will join the action.
“My calculation, with the joining of various elements, online motorcycle taxi drivers because they will listen to the government’s announcement, will reach 400,000 masses. So from workers more than 200,000, from other elements including online taxis also 200,000,” said Andi Gani.
He stated that the May Day commemoration will be attended directly by President Prabowo Subianto. Prabowo is scheduled to deliver a state speech and strategic policies for workers in 2026.
“Mr President will deliver his state address and he will convey what he will do in 2026,” he said.
