Andhika Wasistho Backs MSMEs Over Alleged TikTok Shop Violations

Member of House Commission VII Andhika Satya Wasistho has expressed full support for micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) operators who have become victims of alleged violations by the TikTok Shop platform. During a hearing discussing the problems faced by hundreds of thousands of MSMEs on TikTok Shop, Andhika stressed that the issue has been ongoing since 2022 and is very serious. He stated that the alleged violations by TikTok Shop are clear, with total losses across Indonesia reaching approximately Rp 3 trillion. Andhika highlighted that when the fund seizures occurred between 2022 and 2023, TikTok Shop did not yet possess a marketplace business licence from the Indonesian government. MSME operators became victims because their funds could not be disbursed, even though the platform resumed operations after a temporary closure. He personally encouraged Commission VII to protect MSME operators. Andhika also proposed that the commission hear not only from the Indonesian Advocates Association (Peradi), the Ministry of MSMEs, and the business operators, but also summon TikTok and other e-commerce platforms. He believes the problem can be resolved if all relevant parties are present. If the issue remains unresolved, he personally urged Commission VII to establish a working committee. Andhika emphasised that TikTok Shop is suspected of violating Law Number 8 of 1999 on Consumer Protection, particularly the principles of information transparency and fair treatment, as well as Government Regulation Number 71 of 2019 on the implementation of electronic systems and transactions. His support as both a lawmaker and an MSME activist is expected to push Commission VII to take concrete steps, including forming a working committee, to ensure the withheld funds are returned and similar practices do not recur.
