Ancient Islamic Art of Indonesia
The United Arab Emirates Ambassador Mohammad Saeed Al-Kindi is
slated to open the Ancient Islamic Art of Indonesia at the
Maruzen Gallery, Mega Pasaraya, Blok M on Thursday.
The opening ceremony will coincide with the breaking of the
fast meal.
The exhibition includes gold and silverware, carved wooden
objects, weapons, old hand-written Korans, and numerous textiles,
many of which have Arabic calligraphic designs.
Some of the artifacts to be displayed were included in the
recent Istiqlal Festival exhibitions of 1991 and 1995.
The exhibition will end on Feb. 28.
