Anamfal Qur’an Islamic boarding school to host international Qur’an memorisation competition
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Anamfal Qur’an Islamic boarding school in Cirebon will host the Anamfal International Quran Competition 2026, an international-level Musabaqah Hifzhil Qur’an (MHQ) held online during the holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH.
“The competition will run across several selection rounds up to the grand final on 15 March 2026,” said the Chair of the Anamfal International Quran Competition (MHQ) 2026 committee, Laila, in a written statement released in Jakarta on Saturday.
She said the competition is open to participants from primary (SD/MI) in years 5–6 and junior secondary (SMP/MTs) in years 8–9 from both domestic and international participants.
“So far, more than 100 participants from seven countries have taken part in the competition,” she said.
According to her, participants come from various regions in Asia, Africa, and the Americas, making MHQ 2026 a Qur’an competition that involves the younger generation across nations.
Laila said the total prize money amounts to over Rp100 million, and MHQ 2026 also offers a range of prizes such as laptops, smartphones, stipends for education, souvenirs, educational assistance, and international certificates for participants and mentors.
“We hope MHQ 2026 will be a conduit for the emergence of a Qur’anic generation that is not only strong in memorisation but also loves and practices the values of the Qur’an in daily life,” she said.
MHQ 2026 will be conducted entirely online in two stages of selection. The first stage involves submitting a tilawah or memorisation video that participants send via social media from 1 to 3 March 2026. After the assessment process, the organisers will announce the participants who advance to the second stage on 7 March 2026.
Those who advance will then participate in an online technical briefing about the competition on 9 March 2026 to receive technical explanations regarding the next stage’s procedures.
The second stage of selection will take place on 11–12 March 2026 through online meetings with live judging by a panel of judges.
The entire sequence will culminate in a grand final scheduled for 15 March 2026, where winners in various categories will be announced.
Meanwhile, the head of the Anamfal Qur’an Islamic Boarding School in Cirebon, Faisal Hilmi, stated that hosting the international MHQ is part of efforts to broaden the spread of the Qur’an and to encourage the younger generation to grow closer to the Qur’an.
This year’s MHQ competition represents an expansion of previous activities. In 2022 or 2023, the Anamfal Qur’an Islamic Boarding School held a MHQ competition at the West Java level, which later expanded to attract participants from various countries.
Through this competition, we hope to broaden cross-border networks for Qur’an learning and, at the same time, encourage the emergence of a younger generation that is increasingly closer to the Qur’an,” he said.
