Analyst values Polri-TNI-Prosecutor synergy in maintaining public trust

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Intelligence, defence, and security analyst Ngasiman Djoyonegoro has assessed that the communication demonstrated by the leadership of the Indonesian National Police (Polri), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the Attorney General’s Office represents an important step towards strengthening inter-agency synergy while maintaining public trust in law enforcement. According to Ngasiman, the meeting and gathering between the National Police Chief, the TNI Commander, and the Attorney General reflect that coordination among state leaders remains intact amidst high public attention on various law enforcement issues. “This momentum deserves appreciation as a form of maturity among state institution leaders in maintaining communication and strengthening synergy. In a democratic country, differences in authority are not a reason to build distance, but rather become the basis for strengthening coordination for the benefit of the nation and state,” Ngasiman said in his statement in Jakarta, Monday. He assessed that inter-agency communication has strategic value for maintaining national stability while strengthening public trust in law enforcement institutions. “The public certainly desires a harmonious working relationship between the Police, the TNI, and the Attorney General’s Office. This harmony is important so that all institutions can carry out their constitutional duties effectively in maintaining security, enforcing the law, and protecting the interests of the public,” he said. However, Ngasiman stressed that synergy must be built while respecting the authority of each institution as stipulated in laws and regulations. According to him, good coordination does not mean interfering in the functions of other institutions, but rather ensuring that each institution carries out its mandate professionally. “Coordination does not mean interfering with the authority of other institutions. In fact, healthy communication is communication that respects each other’s functions, duties, and authorities. That is where the principle of the rule of law works well,” he said. He added that the Police must continue to have the space to carry out investigation and inquiry functions professionally based on evidence, while the Attorney General’s Office carries out the prosecution function objectively, and the TNI remains focused on its national defence duties. “Likewise, the Attorney General’s Office carries out the prosecution function objectively in accordance with legal provisions, while the TNI remains focused on its national defence duties. When each institution carries out its mandate professionally without mutual intervention, the law enforcement system will become stronger and trusted by the public,” he said. Ngasiman expressed hope that communication among state institution leaders would not stop at symbols of togetherness, but would be realised in strengthening governance, public services, and fair law enforcement. “Public trust is built not only through statements or symbols of togetherness, but through consistency of action. Therefore, the synergy built today must be translated into public services, fair law enforcement, and respect for the supremacy of law,” he said. “When communication runs well and each institution respects each other’s authority, what is actually strengthened is not only inter-institutional relations, but also the authority of the rule of law and public trust in the state,” said Ngasiman.
