Analyst: Trading Is Not a Shortcut to Making a Profit
JAKARTA — Futures trading is not an activity that promises instant profits. Understanding the market, being disciplined and having the ability to manage risk are essential for traders before they make transaction decisions.
DIDIMAX director Cenli Yani said education is needed to help the public understand the characteristics of futures trading, so that people do not focus solely on profits.
“Trading is not an activity that promises instant profits; it requires knowledge, discipline and readiness to face market risks,” Yani said in a statement on Thursday (29 October 2026).
She said understanding technical analysis, fundamental analysis, trading psychology and risk management was important. These aspects can help traders make measured decisions.
Technical analysis helps traders read price movements, while fundamental analysis is used to understand the economic factors affecting the market. Traders also need to control their emotions and take potential losses into account when dealing in financial markets.
This knowledge is particularly important because prices in futures markets can change at any time. Decisions focused solely on profit, without considering risk, can lead to substantial losses.
The ease of access to digital trading platforms should also be matched by adequate understanding. Easy access to transactions does not, by itself, enable someone to read price movements or carefully assess potential losses.
DIDIMAX’s commitment to trading education has also received recognition through the Best Trading Education award, which it won at the 2026 CNBC Indonesia Awards.
DIDIMAX said it would continue to develop its education programmes and improve the quality of learning in order to expand futures-trading literacy throughout Indonesia.
