Analyst: Teddy's Golf Cart Driving a Practical Matter, Not a Controversy
Political analyst Hendri Satrio has downplayed the recent public scrutiny of Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, who was seen driving a golf cart carrying President Prabowo Subianto and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a visit to Prambanan Temple. Satrio, founder of the KedaiKOPI survey institute, stated that the situation was a practical division of duties and should not be blown out of proportion. He noted that it would have been strange if Culture Minister Fadli Zon, who was walking alongside the vehicle, had been the one driving. According to Satrio, Zon’s responsibility was to accompany the President and the visiting dignitary while providing explanations about the cultural site, a task that would have been difficult to perform while driving. He added that as Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya’s role includes ensuring the President’s mobility runs smoothly, particularly in areas where standard vehicles cannot operate. Satrio urged the public not to view the incident as a form of privilege, emphasizing that during state visits, the division of tasks is often highly practical to ensure everything proceeds effectively.
