Analyst Says Jakarta Tourism Office's Oversight of Nightclubs is Weak
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Public Policy analyst from Trisakti University, Trubus Rahadiansyah, has stated that the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office’s (Disparekraf) oversight of nightclubs is weak, especially in preventing repeated violations in the sector.
Trubus made this statement in response to the raid on two nightclubs in West Jakarta, namely B-Fashion and The Seven, which were allegedly linked to drug trafficking on Saturday (9/5/2026).
“Yes, it is indeed weak. It has been weak for some time. They keep opening new establishments,” said Trubus when confirmed by Kompas.com via telephone on Friday (15/5/2026).
“And then they try to fix it, but sometimes it’s the same people, they just change the name of the company. So, it’s like they’re just changing clothes. That’s how these nightclub operators operate,” he said.
Trubus believes that this practice needs to be seriously anticipated by the local government so that enforcement does not only stop at the revocation of licenses but also targets the actors behind the management of the business.
“If they just change clothes, will they operate again, and will licenses be issued again? That’s the problem. That’s why we need to know who these people are and what their connections are,” he said.
According to him, data on the actual ownership of the company can be traced from the beginning through the existing administrative system.
“That’s why Disparekraf must investigate properly, and not just turn a blind eye. If they do that, it will be a problem. In fact, from the beginning, they already know who owns this company; the data can be checked,” said Trubus.
He also emphasised the importance of equal oversight of all nightclubs, so that it does not give the impression of selective enforcement.
“It must be done equally so that it is not discriminatory,” he said.
The Head of the Tourism Industry Section of the West Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Sub-Department, Gun Gun Mujiantara, confirmed the raid.
However, according to management, the drugs found were not from the karaoke management.
