Analyst: Rising Global Geopolitical Tensions Threaten Domestic Stability
Senior political analyst Boni Hargens held a humanitarian action and collective prayer with hundreds of orphans at his residence, Rumah Perdamaian, in Depok, West Java, on Saturday (28/3/2026). The event, held in the atmosphere of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, focused on praying for peace amid rising global geopolitical tensions.
Boni highlighted the world’s current unstable condition, from conflicts in the Middle East to the unresolved Russia-Ukraine war. According to him, this instability is not only a humanitarian issue but also a real threat to Indonesia’s domestic stability.
“Our world is currently not in good shape. There is tension involving America-Israel against Iran, as well as the Russia-Ukraine war that is not yet resolved. All of this creates global instability that directly impacts our domestic situation,” Boni stated through his remarks on Saturday (28/3).
On that occasion, Boni criticised observers or experts who tend to issue theories or hypotheses that corner the government and incite public anxiety. He believes that amid the global crisis, social and spiritual steps are more needed than mere intellectual polemics.
“If other experts are busy proposing hypotheses or theories that often cause anxiety and corner the government, we prefer the path of social activities. We invite the public to pray for the good of the nation and country,” he emphasised.
Boni believes that the Indonesian Government is currently working hard to anticipate the economic and political impacts of the war, while actively carrying out diplomatic efforts to stop the conflict.
He also invited all elements of society to provide moral and spiritual support to world leaders so that they prioritise dialogue over violence.
“We pray for the grace of wisdom for world leaders to prioritise dialogue in resolving problems. We also invite the public to pray that God blesses the Indonesian government’s struggle in facing the impacts of this war,” Boni concluded.
The event concluded with the distribution of aid to hundreds of orphans as a form of social care during the holiday. Boni hopes that the message from Rumah Perdamaian can inspire other figures to focus more on strengthening national solidarity amid the global crisis.
