Analyst Reveals Series of Concrete Steps by Police Chief to Support Prabowo Administration
Jakarta, VIVA – Senior political analyst Boni Hargens has detailed the concrete steps taken by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to support the Prabowo-Gibran administration. These extend beyond law enforcement and security to other strategic sectors, such as promoting economic growth.
“During April 2026, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo demonstrated a series of strategic steps that reflect a proactive and multidimensional leadership approach, ranging from strengthening sports tourism in Bali, digital synergies, Hajj worship security, to maintaining a conducive national investment climate amid global turbulence,” said Boni Hargens in his statement on Monday, 20 April 2026.
He assessed that the Police Chief has four strategic agendas that reflect the institutional priorities of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in facing contemporary challenges. These four agendas, he said, are interconnected and form a coherent policy framework for safeguarding national stability across various dimensions.
“These four agendas reflect the broad spectrum of Polri’s responsibilities, from the digital realm, religious affairs, economy, to geopolitics. Analysis of these four agendas is important to understand the strategic direction of the Polri institution under Listyo Sigit’s leadership towards the end of his tenure,” said Boni.
The first agenda emphasised by the Police Chief is strengthening synergy between Polri and the Ministry of Communication and Digitalisation (Komdigi). This step responds to the reality that cybercrimes and digital space violations are becoming increasingly complex, massive, and cross-border.
He assessed that Polri recognises that conventional law enforcement capacity is no longer sufficient to address evolving digital threats, ranging from cybercrimes, the spread of disinformation, online scams, to illegal content that threatens public security.
Therefore, he said, synergy with Komdigi is not merely technical coordination, but a strategic integration between two institutions with different mandates that complement each other.
“Komdigi has access to digital space infrastructure and regulations, while Polri has law enforcement authority. Collaboration between the two has the potential to create a more effective, integrated, and responsive digital law enforcement ecosystem,” he explained.
The second agenda that has caught the Police Chief’s attention, according to Boni, is the formation of the Hajj Task Force to ensure the security and smooth service for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims in 2026.
