Analyst: Prabowo Calls for Unity During Holiday to Face Uncertain Global Situation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Political analyst Iwan Setiawan stated that President Prabowo Subianto urged all elements of the nation to unite and collaborate in facing the uncertain global situation during a gathering at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Saturday (21/3). Iwan, who is also the Executive Director of the Indonesia Political Review (IPR), said that political elites, as part of the nation’s elements, could utilise the Lebaran momentum at the Palace to discuss various policies, both local and global, in an atmosphere of togetherness and rapport, despite differences in ideology and political positions among the figures. “If we look closely, President Prabowo is warning all elements of the nation to unite and work together in facing the current uncertain global situation. The economic pressures from the US-Israel war with Iran cannot be taken lightly. Prabowo wants all energy from all parties to be focused on dealing with such situations. Whether those in the coalition and government supporters, or those outside the government,” he said when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Tuesday. Prabowo’s step to embrace those figures during the Lebaran momentum, according to him, is a political communication strategy that can be called “Prabowo’s Eid Diamond Diplomacy”. “Utilising the Lebaran or Eid al-Fitr holiday momentum to build constructive communication with various groups, political figures, officials, and community leaders is very good and productive. There is a difference with meetings and dialectics in other spaces,” he said. “Those inside the government must focus and work tirelessly to succeed government programmes and anticipate and face the uncertain economic situation,” he continued. Meanwhile, parties and groups outside the government must also contribute in the form of constructive criticism, oversight, and balancing ideas for government policies and programmes. Iwan assessed that second opinions on contributions of thoughts and solution offers from parties outside the government are very important for the government in implementing programmes and constructive evaluations. This can be seen when President Prabowo invited the Fifth President of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri, to the Presidential Palace on Thursday (19/3). “Previously, we also saw that President Prabowo had invited and sought input from former presidents and vice presidents regarding Indonesia facing the effects of war and the global situation. Although, Fifth President Megawati Soekarnoputri met Prabowo at a different time,” he said. In the harmony of national leadership in the context of political communication, Iwan concluded that President Prabowo is a leader who has proven his political maturity. “In a situation like this, Prabowo shows political maturity. Embracing and accommodating all parties, both coalition and groups with different political positions. Prabowo prioritises unity and oneness among political elites, figures, and all elements of the nation in building and advancing Indonesia, rather than creating a map of conflict,” he said.
