Analyst: Polri's Precision Free Homecoming 2026 Transforms from Power to Service
Senior political analyst Boni Hargens assesses that Polri, under the leadership of Chief of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, is undergoing a transformation through the Polri Precision Free Homecoming 2026 programme. Boni describes this programme not merely as an annual routine, but as a tangible manifestation of a paradigm shift in policing from an approach of power to one of service.
“The 2026 Free Homecoming programme is a reflection of a fundamental institutional cultural transformation. Polri now positions itself as a public servant present to assist and protect, no longer as an instrument of intimidation or domination,” Boni stated in his comments on Tuesday (24/3).
Boni highlights the dedication of Polri personnel working comprehensively, from managing critical traffic points to escorting journeys. However, he also provides an emotional note regarding the passing of Brigadier Fajar Permana, a member of the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Directorate, while on duty securing the homecoming flow. According to Boni, Brigadier Fajar’s sacrifice of life is the most authentic proof that service values have permeated the soul of the Bhayangkara corps.
“The departure of Brigadier Fajar is a stark reminder that the security we feel is the fruit of dedication, even life. This proves that Polri’s value transformation is not just a slogan, but a soul lived to the highest sacrifice,” he said.
Furthermore, Boni explains that Polri’s positive performance during this Eid moment has significant implications for strengthening society policing. In this concept, the community and police work as equal partners, which forms an important foundation for the Integrated Criminal Justice System.
Boni deems Chief of Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo worthy of appreciation for his success in translating the Precision vision into real actions that touch the people. This transformation is believed to sustainably increase public trust.
“Listyo Sigit’s leadership has laid the foundation for a new culture with the potential to develop beyond his tenure. This is the most valuable institutional legacy for the state organisation,” Boni said.
