Analyst: Housing renovation programme for 400,000 homes is one that the people need
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Political and public policy analyst from Al Azhar Indonesia University, Ujang Komarudin, stated that the house renovation programme or Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS) targeting 400,000 housing units this year is an important programme needed by the people.
“The house renovation programme or BSPS is a programme that is needed, a programme awaited by the community. Because we know that this programme is primary, fundamental, regarding the community’s housing needs, the needs of the people’s homes, which is indeed the duty or obligation of the state so that the community has decent housing, has representative homes to live in,” said Ujang.
When contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Tuesday, Ujang said that this BSPS programme is important for the community because it is a people-oriented programme.
“Therefore, I see the house renovation programme as important for the community and this is a good programme, a people-oriented programme, which is certainly important from the state, from the government, from the President for the Indonesian people. Especially since the number is quite large, 400,000 homes this year,” he said.
“Yes, of course, the first thing to do is data. The data for recipients must be clear, must be precise, so that must be done. So everything is based on recipient data according to those who are entitled so that it will be on target,” he stated.
For information, the Government will significantly increase the people’s house renovation programme in 2026 with a renovation target of 400,000 housing units throughout Indonesia.
Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait or Ara said that the increase in the programme is a direct directive from President Prabowo Subianto to accelerate the provision of decent housing for the community.
She mentioned that last year there were 220 districts/cities that had not received the house renovation programme. In 2026, the government ensures that all districts/cities will receive the programme.
According to her, the house renovation programme not only aims to provide decent housing but also to encourage economic equity in the regions.
