Political analyst Karyono Wibowo has responded to developments in the case involving former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah, who is implicated in alleged corruption and money laundering. He urged all elements of society and anti-corruption activists to monitor the case to ensure it does not simply disappear.

Karyono stated that the involvement of a law enforcement official in a massive organised crime network constitutes a betrayal of the constitution and deeply wounds the public’s sense of justice. He explained that the alleged criminal acts, which involve extraordinary sums of money, represent an extraordinary abuse of power.

He stressed that such a crime not only results in state financial losses but also severely damages the integrity of law enforcement institutions, which should be at the forefront of eradicating corruption. Karyono insisted that the law must be applied without discrimination and that the evidentiary process must be conducted transparently.

Karyono called on law enforcement agencies to act more seriously in thoroughly investigating the entire network involved, including the intellectual actors behind the scheme. He demanded that Febrie Adriansyah be punished with the maximum penalty under the applicable Anti-Money Laundering Law. He also appealed to all elements of society and anti-corruption institutions to continue monitoring the case to ensure it is handled without conflicts of interest and to guarantee accountability in the pursuit of justice.
