Analyst appreciates active contribution of Cabinet Secretary, ensuring smooth programme implementation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Political communication analyst Hendri Satrio, alias Hensa, considers the presence of Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya at various field activities conducted by ministers in the Merah Putih Cabinet to be reasonable and even worthy of appreciation.
Hensa expressed this view after Seskab Teddy was seen accompanying the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi in monitoring the return flow of Eid al-Fitr 2026 travellers.
In a statement in Jakarta on Thursday, Hensa assessed that the Cabinet Secretary most likely only wants to ensure that government programmes run as they should and truly impact the people.
According to him, this intention does not need to be exaggerated or suspected.
“Teddy might just want to make sure the programmes are running well and have a positive impact on the people,” he said.
For this reason, he reminded the ministers of the Merah Putih Cabinet not to misinterpret the Cabinet Secretary’s activity.
“Cabinet Secretary Teddy is everywhere. This is good, but I worry that the ministers might create Askabpi programmes, ‘Asal Seskab Happy’, just to make the Cabinet Secretary report only the good things to the President,” said Hensa.
He also warned that misguided perceptions from the ministers could be more dangerous than the Cabinet Secretary’s presence itself.
He assessed that if ministers start seeing Teddy as an extension of President Prabowo Subianto’s eyes in the field, what happens is not performance improvement, but mere image-building.
“Don’t let the positive activities of the Cabinet Secretary be misinterpreted. If the ministers become afraid of the Cabinet Secretary and end up just trying to make him happy, the ones who lose are the people, because the reports to the President won’t reflect the actual conditions,” said Hensa.
Furthermore, Hensa emphasised that the function of the Cabinet Secretary indeed includes coordination and oversight of government operations. Teddy’s presence in the field, including in the Eid return monitoring, is essentially part of that role, so it is not an anomaly that needs to be feared.
“In my view, Teddy just wants to make sure everything is running well. That’s his job. The problem arises if the ministers become paranoid and choose the safe option,” he said.
It is known that the Cabinet Secretary, together with the Minister of Transportation, directly inspected the peak of the Eid al-Fitr 2026 return flow at the Integrated Pulo Gebang Terminal, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/3) in the early hours to ensure everything runs safely, smoothly, and comfortably through synergy among ministries/institutions.
“Earlier at 1 a.m., I was invited by Pak Menhub to check the peak return flow at Pulo Gebang Terminal. Alhamdulillah, after asking directly to the travellers on the buses, they said the journey was smooth and comfortable. Also, a bit of greeting, handshaking, and photos to make the travellers happy,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy as quoted from the official post of the Cabinet Secretariat.
