Analysis of Cak Nun's Prediction on Iran Attack: Is Saudi Really Defending Israel, and What Is Indonesia's Position?

A prediction by cultural figure Emha Ainun Najib, commonly known as Cak Nun, regarding attacks by Israel and the United States on Iran has circulated widely on social media.

At a Tabligh Nusantara event on 22 February 2012, Cak Nun predicted that the United States and Israel would eventually attack Iran. In his prediction, he stated that Saudi Arabia would defend Israel and the United States. He then posed a question about Indonesia’s position: would Indonesia defend Iran or align with the United States?

“One day Iran will be attacked by Israel and America, and it can be certain that Saudi Arabia will defend Israel. The question is for Indonesia—which side will Indonesia defend? Iran or Israel?” Cak Nun asked.

The video garnered numerous comments from social media users with diverse perspectives. Some dismissed it as mere “coincidental reading,” arguing that such predictions had already been widely analysed by many observers. However, others believed Cak Nun’s question regarding Indonesia’s position remained relevant.

“War has truly occurred, the United States and Israel have attacked Iran. Saudi Arabia and Gulf states are defending the United States and Israel. So what is Indonesia’s position? Cak Nun’s old question is relevant, and in your opinion, has it been answered?” wrote social media user Henri Subiakto.

Looking at Cak Nun’s statement, the fact that the United States and Israel have attacked Iran cannot be denied. American officials have confirmed joining Israel to remove Iran’s regime on Saturday, 28 February 2026.
