Anak Krakatau Erupts, Here Is President Prabowo's Message

President Prabowo Subianto has issued an appeal regarding the activity of Mount Anak Krakatau.

The President urged all members of the public, particularly those in the Jakarta, Banten, Lampung, and surrounding Sunda Strait areas, to remain calm, increase their vigilance, and follow all directions from the government and officers in the field.

Prabowo also asked the public not to approach the Mount Anak Krakatau area and to fully comply with the danger zone and safe limits that have been set by the authorities.

He said he has been monitoring the development of Mount Anak Krakatau’s activity and receiving reports and the latest information from the relevant ranks.

Prabowo said he has ordered all relevant government ranks to continue monitoring the development of the situation.

“The President has ordered all government ranks, BNPB, BMKG, TNI, Polri, Regional Governments, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Transportation, as well as relevant ministries and institutions to continue monitoring the development of the situation, ensure all elements of preparedness are running well, and provide the necessary protection and assistance to the public,” Prabowo wrote in a post on his official Instagram account, Sunday (6/9/2026).

To members of the public affected by volcanic ash, the President urged them to maintain their health by using masks or respiratory protection, reducing outdoor activities if the ash conditions are quite thick, and following instructions from health officers and regional governments.

He also asked the public to remain calm, but not to be complacent.

“The President will continue to monitor the development of the situation and take every necessary decision and step to ensure the safety and protect all the people of Indonesia,” the account wrote.
