The An-Nadzir congregation in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, has determined that 1 Ramadan 1447 Hijri falls on Wednesday, 18 February 2026. The determination was made after the An-Nadzir Moon Observation Team conducted coordination and monitoring across several regions in Indonesia.

“An-Nadzir will begin fasting for 1 Ramadan 1447 H on Wednesday, 18 February 2026,” said An-Nadzir leader M Samiruddin Pademmui on Monday (16/2/2026).

The determination was based on the results of observation and calculation by the An-Nadzir Moon Observation Team at several locations across Indonesia. The An-Nadzir congregation will begin performing congregational tarawih prayers on Tuesday evening (17/2).

“For those who wish to perform congregational tarawih prayers, they are welcome to do so from Tuesday evening, 17 February 2026, for the following three evenings in their respective areas, after which prayers should be performed individually,” he explained.

Samiruddin explained that the difference between An-Nadzir and other Muslim communities in determining the start of Ramadan is due to differences in methodology and observation procedures. Nevertheless, An-Nadzir still relies on astronomical calculation (hisab) and moon sighting (rukyat) using the approach taught by their spiritual teacher.

“The difference is actually more a result of differing procedures, methodologies, and knowledge understood and employed in determining the beginning and end of the month,” Samiruddin said.
