The An-Nadzir congregation in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, has determined that 1 Ramadan 1447 H falls on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.

“An-Nadzir will begin fasting for 1 Ramadan 1447 H on Wednesday, 18 February 2026,” said An-Nadzir leader M. Samiruddin Pademmui in a statement on Monday (16/2).

Samiruddin said the differences in determining the start of Ramadan fasting arise because of the varying procedures, methodologies, and knowledge employed by different Muslim communities in Indonesia.

“The differences are actually more attributable to the differing procedures, methodologies and knowledge understood and used in the observation, calculation and determination of the beginning and end of the month,” he said.

However, Samiruddin noted that in general, both An-Nadzir and other Muslim communities share an understanding of the sciences of hisab (astronomical calculation) and rukyat (moon sighting), with the differences lying in the application of the knowledge, procedures and methodology.

“In many matters relating to fiqh and khilafiah (scholarly disagreement), differences have long existed among the Muslim community. Therefore, maturity, wisdom, patience and an open mind are needed, accompanied by the motivation to continue learning and studying knowledge. For the knowledge of Allah is indeed vast and limitless,” he said.

Samiruddin said Tarawih prayers would commence on Tuesday evening, 17 February. He also invited congregation members who wish to perform Tarawih prayers in congregation for the following three nights.

“Those who wish to perform Tarawih prayers in congregation are welcome to do so from Tuesday evening, 17 February 2026, for the next three nights in their respective areas, after which prayers should be performed individually,” he said.
