Darilaut – The Indonesian Cyber Media Association (AMSI) for the Riau Islands region for the 2025–2028 period was officially inaugurated in Batam on Saturday (25/4). The inauguration was marked by the swearing-in oath and promise of the board members, as well as the handover of the AMSI flag from the Deputy General Chairman of AMSI, Upi Asmaradhana, to the elected Chairman of AMSI Kepri, Jailani. Upi stated that AMSI is an organisation of digital press companies that oversees cyber media publishers in Indonesia. The organisation was founded on 18 April 2017 by 26 editors-in-chief of mainstream media in Jakarta. “AMSI exists to ensure that media companies provide benefits to the digital ecosystem in their regions. Our tagline is clear: healthy business, quality information,” he said. According to Upi, AMSI is now present in 28 provinces with a total of around 520 member media outlets throughout Indonesia. Specifically in the Riau Islands, there are 12 active member media. Upi also conveyed that the media industry faces increasingly complex challenges due to digital disruption and economic pressures. “The main capital of media is trust. Amid the proliferation of disinformation, media must continue to uphold quality and integrity,” he said. Chairman of AMSI Kepri, Jailani, on the same occasion, expressed appreciation for the support from various parties for the formation of this new board.
