JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Videographer Amsal Christy Sitepu claims he was intimidated by a prosecutor while detained in the case of a village profile video production project in Karo Regency, North Sumatra.

Amsal states that the prosecutor came to the detention centre (rutan) bringing chocolate brownies.

The prosecutor then asked Amsal to stop the commotion.

“In the legal process I am currently undergoing, I once received direct intimidation from a prosecutor who gave me a box of chocolate brownies with a message. He spoke directly to me in this rutan, ‘Just follow the flow. Don’t make a fuss. Close those contents. Someone is disturbed’,” said Amsal, during a meeting with Commission III of the DPR, via Zoom, on Monday (30/3/2026).

He stated that no more young people should be criminalised in Indonesia.

“I said, ‘No, leader. No. Enough, there should be no more young people who must be criminalised in Indonesia. Let there be no more Amsals who are criminalised. Let me be the only creative economy worker who is criminalised, intimidated. Let me be the last one, leader’. I have to convey this. This is the voice from all of us young people who dare to keep speaking out even though we face pressure,” said Amsal, while crying.

Amsal also conveyed to the prosecutor that he would continue to fight, even if threatened with being buried.

He claims he is not afraid because he feels innocent in this village profile video project.

“I said, no, I will keep fighting. Even though I know many people say, ‘You will be buried. If you fight, you will be buried’. But I said, I’m not afraid. Because I’m not guilty. I’m proud of my work. As a videographer, a creative economy worker,” said Amsal.

The alleged corruption case ensnaring the videographer from North Sumatra, Amsal Christy Sitepu, has become the focus of public attention.

This matter originated from the village profile video production project in Karo Regency, which led to legal proceedings.

Amsal, who serves as Director of CV Promiseland, is now facing a demand of two years in prison.

The case began in the 2020 to 2022 budget period, when Amsal offered video production services to several village governments in Karo Regency.
