Amsal Sitepu Acquitted in Village Profile Video Case
The Medan District Court judges have declared Amsal Christy Sitepu not guilty in the corruption case concerning the production of village profile videos in Karo Regency, North Sumatra. Amsal has thus been sentenced to acquittal.
“The Defendant Amsal is not proven guilty and is sentenced to acquittal,” stated the panel of judges led by M Yusafrihardi Girsang while reading the verdict at the Medan District Court, as reported by detikSumut on Wednesday (1/4/2026).
Previously, Amsal had been demanded a two-year prison sentence by the prosecutor. In addition, Amsal was also demanded to pay a fine and restitution money.
“Therefore, demanding the imposition of a criminal sentence on the Defendant Amsal Sitepu of two years’ imprisonment,” said prosecutor Wira Arizona at the Medan District Court on Friday (20/2/2026).
In addition to the prison term, the prosecutor imposed a fine of Rp 50 million, with the provision that if not paid, it would be replaced with three months’ imprisonment. Then, restitution of Rp 202,161,980 was imposed, with the provision that if not paid within one month after the verdict gains legal force, assets would be seized and auctioned. If insufficient, it would be replaced with one year’s imprisonment.
According to the prosecutor, aggravating factors include the defendant not admitting his actions, being evasive and verbose during the trial, and not yet returning state funds.
“Mitigating, the Defendant has not been previously convicted,” stated prosecutor Wira.
