Amran Reveals Companies Reaping Rp2 Trillion Monthly Profit

Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman has revealed the results of a national rice trade analysis, which indicates that alleged rice mafia practices are still prevalent. Based on the study, the government estimates that losses resulting from the circulation of premium rice that does not meet quality standards have reached Rp98 trillion.

This disclosure addresses the viral issue regarding rice mills generating profits of Rp2 trillion per month during the harvest season, a point previously raised by President Prabowo Subianto. Amran noted that while President Prabowo presented this information politely, it remains a factual reality that harms farmers.

“These trillions of rupiah are not reasonable business profits. This is an infringement on the rights of the people. It is deception,” Amran stated firmly during a press conference at his office in Jakarta on Thursday (30/07/2026).
