Amran Inspects Southeast Asia's Largest Rice Seed Centre in Subang

Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman personally inspected the seed centre, which is the largest rice seed facility in Southeast Asia, located at the Agricultural Assembly and Modernisation Agency (BRMP) Padi in Sukamandi, Subang, West Java.

During his visit, Amran observed the rice seed production process directly. He noted that this facility serves as a primary source of seeds that will be distributed to various regions throughout Indonesia.

“This is the largest source of seeds in Southeast Asia, and from here, source seeds are distributed across all of Indonesia. We must maintain this well. This is the largest rice seed centre in Southeast and we must guard and oversee it,” Amran stated during his inspection on Wednesday (2/9/2026).

He mentioned that the seed production at the site is substantial, reaching 245 tonnes of seed production this year.

“Currently, we have produced 245 tonnes so far this year. That is a significant amount for seed distribution across all commodities,” he said.

Amran added that seed production will continue to be developed. The government considers the existence of the seed centre in Sukamandi to be a crucial component in ensuring the availability of source seeds to support national rice production.

With production reaching 245 tonnes throughout this year, the seed centre is expected to supply the necessary seeds for planting needs in various regions, while simultaneously supporting more massive development of rice production in Indonesia.
