Amran Gathers 170 Regents to Discuss Rp 9.95 Trillion Plantation Crop Assistance
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman gathered 170 regents from across Indonesia to discuss plantation crop assistance worth Rp 9.95 trillion.
Amran stated that the budget was allocated by President Prabowo Subianto in the form of crops and organic fertiliser to boost strategic commodities in the plantation sector.
“There is direct assistance from the President valued at Rp 9.95 trillion for crops, provided free of charge as a grant, in the form of crops along with organic fertiliser given for free,” said Amran during a press conference at the Ministry of Agriculture office in Jakarta on Monday (20/4/2026).
The crops in question include sugarcane, coconut, cashew, nutmeg, cocoa, and coffee, which are known as export-oriented commodities.
“We are targeting 2026 and 2027,” said Amran.
According to Amran, the assistance distributed to each region varies, adjusted to the plantation potential of each area.
In addition, Amran said he would accelerate the distribution of assistance to regions where the regents are proactive and attend the meeting.
Assistance could be stalled in regions even after distribution and eventually returned to the centre because the regent does not pay attention to the needs of the people.
“Because if the regent does not care, it’s a pity for the people and the programme could be stalled. Yes, the funds would be returned. We do not want that, so we invited all regents, not represented; those who attend will definitely receive the assistance,” explained Amran.
For information, the government is intensifying the rejuvenation of several strategic commodities in the plantation sector, namely cocoa, coconut, pepper, cashew, gambier, and sugarcane.
On a separate occasion, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono, alias Mas Dar, said that the Rp 9.95 trillion budget would be distributed to farmers over approximately three years.
Through this programme, the government aims to encourage the productivity of several plantation commodities that have high demand in the global market.
“If we rejuvenate the seeds appropriately, standardised, with proper management methods, then productivity will be high, and farmers will become more prosperous,” said Mas Dar when met at the Ministry of Agriculture office in Jakarta on Thursday (12/3/2026).
Not only boosting productivity, the government will also build factories to process plantation products.
The project is being carried out by the government through the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Danantara in collaboration with the private sector without using the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).
“The leader is Danantara, involving the private sector and farmers. The total investment in this downstreaming is Rp 371 trillion,” said Mas Dar.
