KARAWANG, KOMPAS.com - Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman announced that the Government’s Rice Reserves (CBP) in PT Perum Bulog’s warehouses have reached 5,000,198 tons, or 5 million tons.

Amran stated that the data refers to Bulog’s figures as of 08:55 WIB today, Thursday (23/4/2026).

He made the statement while directly inspecting the Bulog warehouse with observers and media personnel at JDP Karawang1 LogisticPark.

“Today, we announce 5,000,198 tons of rice. This is thanks to all our hard work,” said Amran in Karawang, West Java, on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Bulog’s warehouse capacity across Indonesia can hold 3 million tons of rice.

“We have rented additional capacity of approximately 1,000,000 tons,” Amran said.

Specifically at JDP Karawang1 LogisticPark, the warehouse rented by Bulog has a capacity of 102,000 tons and is already filled with 80,000 tons.

The rice in that warehouse comes from agricultural lands in the Karawang area.

Amran emphasised that they are not joking in announcing the CBP stock reaching 5 million tons, the highest in history.

Because if there is data manipulation and it is audited by the Financial Audit Board (BPK), it could result in criminal liability.

“It’s impossible for Bulog’s President Director or Board of Directors to claim 5 million tons if the actual amount is 4 million tons. Why? The legal consequences are severe. The value of 5 million tons is approximately Rp55 to Rp60 trillion,” Amran said.

Beyond the substantial CBP stock, the government also records 12.5 million tons of rice in hotels, restaurants, and cafes (Horeka), including households.

Meanwhile, rice remaining as stored reserves and still in the fields (standing crop) amounts to 11 million tons.

That rice stock is estimated to be sufficient to meet domestic consumption needs for the next 11 months.

The rice stock is deemed safe and can withstand the extreme dry season referred to as El Nino Godzilla.

“The total, if I’m not mistaken, is 28 million tons. That’s equivalent to 11 months. Whereas the drought is 6 months. Meaning it’s safe,” Amran stated.
